CANADA WATER COMPETITION

A competition to design a compelling concept for the £4bn scheme’s retail and commercial area.

Location:

London, UK

Type of Work:

Commercial Design

Practice:

Reiach and Hall Architects

Overview

The proposal offers the possibility of simple, generous and flexible commercial plans. The proposal imagines a radical city block, a singular mass eroded by light and air, people and movement. The simple diagram is then modified and eroded by light and air, people and movement. The block responds to the shiftsand intelligence of the masterplan, embedding itself within its ambitions yet offering its own distinctive contribution and character. The simple mass and confidence of the block endorses and strengthens the underlying civilizing approach of the overall masterplan discipline.
